A 467–Year Brewing Tradition
Dating back in history to 1543, Köstritzer Brewery is celebrating its 467thAnniversary this year.
This famous black beer (Schwarzbier) evolved out of a rich tradition as well as a commitment to excellence. Brewed in accordance with the German Purity Law, it is enhanced by superior ingredients and perfected by experience and craftsmanship.
162 years ago, as a national drink, students of Jenaer sang about it, Bismarck extolled its virtues and Goethe praised it as his favorite beer!
Köstritzer is uniquely different from any other beer. It's not an ale nor a stout, but an extremely smooth, refreshing dark lager. Because of this, Germans say that Köstritzer is the "Black Beer with the Blond Soul"!
Starting 2009, Friedlin & Associates also carries Köstritzer Blonde Lager, in 50-lt keg size.
